Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed announces crackdown on terrorists and extortionists

Dhaka, March 4, 2026: Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has announced a nationwide crackdown on terrorists and extortionists. He made the statement at a press briefing after a meeting with senior police officials at Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) headquarters.

The minister said two key instructions were given at the meeting. Firstly, a list of extortionists is being prepared and a nationwide operation will be launched soon, starting from Dhaka. Secondly, a clear list of armed terrorists, hardened criminals, and those creating social unrest is being prepared for necessary action.

The minister emphasized the government's priority is to maintain law and order, provide relief to the people, and establish peace in the country. He said the police will be guided to be truly people-friendly and will operate according to the law, without any autocratic or paternalistic system.
